Daws Heath 2015 Community test pit pottery report

A single test pit was excavated in Daws Heath in July by members of AGES-AHA archaeology and history community group on the field to the north of St Michaels and All Angels Churcg, and brought the total excavated in Daws Heath to 24.

This test pit actually revealed the first evidence for Romano-British activity to be identified in Daws Heath, although only a single sherd was found, this land may have been open fields for a nearby rural farmstead. The only other evidence for activity from the test pit dated to the 19th century and later and suggests that this field has generally been left undisturbed with little in the way of activity, even after the church was built.
