Fen Edge Archaeology Group (FEAG) will be holding their AGM, followed by a talk by their honorary president, Dr Susan Oosthuizen, on the topic of 'Common Rights and the Making of the Medieval Landscape.'

"Nowhere", wrote H. C. Darby, "were common rights more important" than in the fenland. Such rights are generally believed to have originated with the Anglo-Saxon 'invasions'. This talk explores that belief, and the interconnections between common rights, environmental exploitation and sustainability, and social structure in the early medieval fenland.

Susan Oosthuizen is University Senior Lecturer at the University of Cambridge Institute for Continuing Education, with particular responsibility for landscape archaeology and history.

All welcome.
