Access Cambridge Archaeology (ACA) delivered a two-day archaeological test pitting event in the village of Snape, over the weekend of the 7th and 8th of May 2016. The event was run in conjunction with Touching the Tide, a three-year Heritage Lottery Funded project due to end in July 2016.
A total of 15 test pits were excavated by local residents, members of Aldeburgh Local History Society and volunteers from the local area throughout Snape over the two days, the majority of which also reached the natural sand.
With ACA on site were Bill Jenman and Lucy Shepherd from Touching the Tide with also Matt Collins from the Cambridge Archaeological Unit and freelance archaeologist John Newman, who all circulated the pits over the two days of digging.
The final report for the Snape test pitting can now be seen
