As part of Touching the Tide, the Heritage Lottery Funded landscape partnership project on the Suffolk coast, ACA were invited to run the following two events in 2014.
On the 15th February 2014, 25 volunteers from the Aldeburgh and District Local History Society as well as members of the local community, took part in a field-walking training day in the north of the village, immediately to the west of a new housing development.
A total of 120 20m stints were walked in one day, with the volunteers covering 2.04km between them!
A training day for 12 volunteers in the theory and practice of geophysical surveying for archaeological features took place on 15th March 2014. The techniques of resistivity and magnetometry were demonstrated on a field near Decoy Wood, east of Snape, and a 30 x 30m grid was surveyed in the afternoon using the two techniques.
