“Excellent experience as usual…really hope that this type of activity can be funded in the future by other sources. The interest generated is fantastic – so many visitors benefited from the experience of seeing a ‘real’ excavation. Thank you ACA and Managing a Masterpiece. Will watch the blogs with continued interest.” (CC)

“All the staff have been friendly, open, patient and so willing to share their knowledge. I feel keen to continue to develop my knowledge of the place I live in so I can share this with others. Thank you!” (TG)

“An experience I will remember for a long time, the staff and people were very friendly which spurred you on.” (KP)

“This has been a wonderful experience and I have enjoyed the last two days. I feel very proud to have been part of such an exciting project. My son has really enjoyed it and it has really captured his imagination. He has been very enthusiastic. We have both enjoyed the experience. Thanks to all.” (SG)

“It was hard work but most enjoyable. I’ve found some interesting finds and worked with some great and knowledgeable people. Everyone was friendly and easy-going and REALLY looking forward to the next dig! Thanks for the opportunity.” (PB)

“I would like to say thank you to all of the ACA team for welcoming me once again with open arms into the gang. I look forward to working with you all in the near future.” (LB)

Clare Castle - September 2013

Feedback

100% of respondents rated their experience of the excavations as ‘excellent’, and 100% would recommend the activity to others.

“Managing a Masterpiece funding has allowed me to follow my interest in archaeology, something I have not been able to do when working full-time. All praise to Carenza and her fantastic team, who nurtured all the volunteers, however experienced or inexperienced! Think it’s particularly essential for the survival of interest in local history of an area.” (NC)

“I could not contain my enthusiasm or enjoyment whilst on site and have just had one of the best weeks of my life (which is fabulous anyway)! Thank you HLF, Managing a Masterpiece and ACA.” (JT)

“Thanks for the opportunity to excavate with you. It’s been wonderful working with knowledgeable and friendly experts and friendly volunteers. Although hard work I feel I have gained new knowledge and friends and look forward to working again with all of you in the future hopefully.” (PB)

“It was another great experience with the ACA team/Managing a Masterpiece project. I was here in May and feel very lucky to have been able to continue on this second dig.” (SH)
