Following the success of a community project in October 2012, residents of Nayland will have another chance in September 2014 to carry out small archaeological ‘test pit’ garden excavations to find out more about how the Suffolk village has developed over hundreds - even thousands - of years in the past.

The project will be run by Dr Carenza Lewis of Cambridge University, well-known from Channel 4’s Time Team and BBC’s Story of England and The Great British Story, and is supported by the Dedham Vale AONB, Nayland with Wissington Conservation Society, and the Nayland with Wissington Community Council. People of all ages, with or without previous experience, are welcome to take part - an enthusiasm for finding out more about the past is the only requirement!

To volunteer to take part in the excavations, please contact Andora Carver.
